Hulu Partnership

Client(s)

Hulu and CondeNet (Epicurious.com, Style.com, Men.Style.com and Wired.com)

Opportunity
Hulu is the closest the web has scene to a mass market TV killer, or at least common substitute.

Ever evolving content partnerships, a clean cool UI and with their fast, slick and scalable back-end architecture - Hulu quickly became the de facto place for browser based HD quality web video.

Which made it an ideal content partner for CondeNet who has produced hundreds of high quality web friendly videos for top Fashion, Food, Health, Travel and Tech verticals and would love to share users and thus advertising dollars with more traditional TV publishers.

Hulu's integration was a made a little easier by CondeNet's previous work partnering the same way with iTunes, YouTube, Adobe Media Player, Sony Bravia and Verizon VCast. However every content partner has their own specs and Hulu's were stricter than I've ever seen.

Hulu requested 25MB/Sec video files, that's about a Gigabyte per one minute of video. With about 300 videos to transfer to Hulu servers plus populating their CMS with corresponding meta data and high quality "thumbnails" (1200x800 images) the Hulu Integration was a challenge.

Personally I think that the CondeNet content looks better on Hulu than it does anywhere else on the web. Try the links below and the ones on other projects on this site to compare for yourself.
