AJAX Chat Bot
✓ Created 100% from scratch as per client spec✓ Browser based Artificial Intelligence web app using AJAX
✓ Presented at an exhibition of illustrations as an interactive component supporting the show
Client(s)
Marcos Chin, Illustrator / Designer / 2008 Summer Resident Artist @ Cooper Union
Opportunity
Sought after New York City Illustrator / Designer, Marcos Chin, likes to add a layer or two of interactivity to his work when he can. In his print work this often takes the form of masked messaging only visible with inside knowledge or after careful scrutiny.
Marcos recently contacted me to collaborate on a new approach to this theme. Basically he wanted a chat bot type of web app that would be displayed on a laptop as part of an upcoming exhibition of his drawings.
The bot would act in a way to both encourage interaction from passer-bys and would slowly start to hint (through vague innuendos) that the chat room is indeed a flirtatious gay chat room, thus reinforcing the message of his exhibition which was something to the effect of ‘Surprising Discoveries Can Be Fun’.
On day of the exhibition Marcos hung 18 of his 5x5 bright colored pen on white paper drawings on the walls of his space. The web app I was to build sit in the middle of the drawings kiosk style.
The drawings were slightly abstract male portraits, yet the closer you looked the more you realized that these were actually amazingly intricate drawings of several hundred penises of varies shapes and sizes.
Not your everyday web project, but it was awesome to collaborate with Marcos, very cool to get into an exhibit and I met some super cool people I would never have met otherwise.
